Job Description: Logistics Support Specialist
Essential Responsibilities:
The designee will provide logistics support across various sites, ensuring smooth operations of supply and transportation functions. The individual will be familiar with manual and automated supply accounting systems, AFMAN 23-122 and AFH 23-123 policies, procedures, and techniques for requirement computation, storage practices, and inventory management. The role requires a working knowledge of functional areas including supply, transportation, maintenance, procurement, and traffic management (TMO) or air terminal operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing freight, acceptance, preparation, processing, inspection, documentation, and handling of supplies.
- Ensuring certification and/or inspection of hazardous materials for air transportation in accordance with AFMAN 24-204 (I) and cargo movement procedures in AFI 24-203.
- Palletizing cargo, aircraft cargo loading/unloading, and cargo tie-down restraint procedures.
- Providing management of Government Furnished Property (GFP) in the possession of contractors.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma or GED is required; relevant Associate’s degree is preferred.
- Formal training in material management, such as military technical training, vocational college, or a four-year apprenticeship program with experience in material management and logistics support.
- A minimum of six (6) years of practical experience with various Asset Management Systems, USAF Standard Base Supply (SBSS), or Enterprise Solutions System (ES-S) functions, including at least four (4) years as a Supply Liaison/Technician.
- Completion of the following courses is required (or equivalent experience):
- Fundamentals of Systems Acquisition Management
- Acquisition Logistics Fundamentals
- Systems Sustainment Management
- Intermediate Systems Acquisition
- Intermediate Acquisition Logistics
- Performance-Based Logistics
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US CENTCOM Medical Exam.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
